How to Create an Easy Fountain

I. Design your fountain. Place pots or containers in a position where you can have water from one flowing into the other. In this case, we have a plant stand supporting a spill pot that has a flat bottom, which is designed to be used in a fountain or pond. Use gravity to assist with the water flow. Most types of containers will work: simply look for a hole in the back, which is made to accommodate tubing to ensure it will perform.

II. Insert pump. Place the pump inside the receiving container in a place that is discreet; behind or below the water flow is a good choice, as it will be camouflaged by the water movement.  Connect the tubing to the pump and bring it behind to the back of the other container. Once connected (to the other container), your fountain is ready for water. Remember not to turn on the pump until water is added, otherwise it can burn up the motor.

III. Add Water. Add enough water to fill the receiving pot, yet only to several inches untouched below the rim so the spill effect can occur. Decorate the

fountain with river rocks and floating plants. The rocks will add depth to the fountain and the plants will promote clearer water. Around the exterior of the fountain, strategically place plants to hide the cords. Once the rocks, water and plants are in, plug in the pump.

IV. Maintenance. Use a treatment for water to help keep the minerals to a minimum. Using Jungle® No More White Scale® for Fountains will keep your water feature beautiful and clean. With hard water being prevalent in

most areas, white scale can form on almost anything once water evaporates. So it is important to keep the water level consistent and treat the water with a product that will prevent unsightly white scale and help keep the pump working effectively. Also, if too much light hits the fountain, you may experience algae growth. To prevent algae, use Jungle’s No More Algae® for Fountains and if foam forms, try No More Foam® for Fountains.
